Another random thought

Singaporean efficiency they call it. The world know knows about the capability of this tiny red dot situated at the apex of the Malaysian peninsula. If the world was a MNC, Singapore would most probably be the best worker in the company. The key word here is "worker". Would one be contended to be a worker all their life? Probably overworked and underpaid, but showered with praises so she would be contented and seek status quo. Of course, there had been the former employees of the year like Japan and Germany, who has risen to the top of the hierarchy with their can do work attitude and abilities. Shareholders like the oil producing companies have their time easy. Reaping profits with minimal work. Will Singapore get promoted anytime soon? Or is she already "henda taki-ng". How do the common worker in the company get promoted to the upper echelons?

dunk!!!

I have got lots of stuff going through my head this week.. Can't really remember most of them. Maybe i should keep a notebook with me so i can take down the random idea that comes to my head.

Ok, lets list them down and see if i can recall the details. Theres f1, marketing, social justice, pricing, lemons and peaches, and what the hell i cant remember already.

Anyway, for the button between escape and f2 on ur keyboard.. Its the 1st F1 night race, and its held in Singapore. Its historic must watch and must go, right? Left. It is unprecedented, that's y its labeled 'historic'. As for the must watch and must go.. Advertisement has to play an important part. Nothing is must watch and must go in this world.. Rather, want to watch, or want to go. But how do you convert a luxury into necessity. Marketing is so interesting. It does this, and gives scarcity power to the owner, which allows them to jack up prices. This leads us to pricing.

I read about this example about this coffee chain which sells exorbitant cuppa coffee. There is this more down to earth example which we gen y or z can relate better to. The price of your bubble tea. Why do the addition of certain top ups or certain flavours of bubble tea cause its price to increase 20-33.33%? Does this different flavour or additional top ups really add 20-33.33% value to the cuppa bubble tea? Or isit the company's way of discriminating the more price sensitive to the less price sensitive. Bubble tea used to cost $3 when i was in primary school, if i did not remember wrongly. Now its about $1.20-$1.50. Did market forces step in to cause firms to earn normal profit in the long run, leading to the price decrease of bubble tea?

Hai, i keep thinking of things which are happening around. There is this NIE chem teacher i had last time in sec 3 who was so damn pissed that i keep asking her questions in class, that she told me to see her after class and tell me to accept things the way they are. Thats hard to do.

Anyway, i can dunk!!! heheeeeeee.

Saturday

Finally i am able to park properly. Driving ain't that hard after all. But i guess i would'nt drive to the city anymore. Public transport is so much more convenient.

I don't know if people like to do things ad-hoc. Saturday night, S12 had a gathering. Only the location was confirmed, so it wasnt really planned. Not sure if people would like it or not.. But only a few people would be willing to put in effort to plan a gathering, so i guess the free-riders cant have much to grouse about.

The girls are in uni, while the guys are serving sentences. We pretty much live different lives. I cant really fathom why the girls are dreading uni, and complaining of the heavy workload. I rather take that then the no-brainer clerical work i am doing now. Same goes with the girls, they lament that we get to serve the nation, get paid and not need to study, like them. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.

One thing that i notice about the spending habits now as compared to perharps a few months ago. Previously we were still students, and our only source of purchasing power was the allowance from our parents, which is not very much. But now, we are sort of like earning an income, although the government calls it "allowance". The greater purchasing power leads us to be more careless about our spending. Less conscious about a few cents. Perharps that will change, when we revert back to being students.

lalala

I sounded bold and brazen. How could one man change the world? But i will try to do my tiny part, to make it a little bit better than it used to be, before i say goodbye to it.

BB BBDC

I was late for the warm up. The instructor was breathing down my neck, lamenting that if i would have came earlier, he would not have been so rush. It started raining. Then it got heavier. I was kinda worried, because i heard that normally when it is raining, people would normally fail the TP test. I was really nervous.

I was the second last to leave the waiting room. The tester, a stern grouchy old man told me to follow him. He only revealed the test route, test route 10 when i was in the car. I realise i forgot to lock the doors, but did not proceed to lock, hoping that the tester would not know. He did not realise it. Shortly upon moving off, he tapped, and i applied the emergency brake. Damn, i did not see it coming, and was startled by it. Luckily, i was able to stop in time. I encountered abit of problem with my vertical parking.. I realise the car was too much to the right, hence i did another additional manoeuvre to align the car in the centre of the lot. 2 point. On the slope, i was not able to get moving on the 1st attempt. I stomped on the break and tried again. 2 points. I was getting jelly all over.

As i made a left turn out of the school, i saw a heavy vehicle. Looks like a 10 tonner to me. I overtook it, so that the tester could not penalise me for failure to overtake slow moving vehicles. Then, was the U-turn. Damn, i thought i did quite well, but after i got the results, i saw that i got 2 points there. Along some road, damn, there was another L plate car infront of me. I was like cursing and swearing at that noob driver who was driving at snail's pace. So i attempted to overtake it, but wth, there was another L plate car infront of it, and i was quite near a hump.. So i abandon the overtaking manoeuvre. I was like thinking its a damn gone case liao. Should be fail liao.

I waited at the tester's office.. He came over with my result slip, and made some inaudible noise. I took the result slip from him, and damn it. 18points. WTH, i passed.
