An excerpt from a book from 2008's person of the year.

"... A tradition based on the simple idea that we have a stake in one another, and that what binds us together is greater than what drives us apart, and that if enough people believe in the truth of that proposition and act on it, then we might not solve every problem, but we can get something meaningful done."

The difference between "the largest employer in Singapore" and some other more successful organisation is the people that makes it up. Enough people believe in the truth of that proposition, and hence choose not to act on it. Hence they get around problems and cover things up. Everyone continues to live their lives peacefully.

*the truth is subjective
